Robert D. Siano, Esq. has practiced law for over thirteen years and is an experienced attorney that handles matters involving entertainment, including intellectual property, contracts, and licensing.
My name's Robert Siano. I am a former musician, turned attorney. I'm here to speak about change, change in particular, in my life. As a musician, I had a rock band. We came around about five years too late, when grunge came about, Nirvana, and so on. For a while, it seemed like we were gonna make it. I dedicated my entire childhood. Gave up opportunities, maybe to be a fireman, or a cop. Instead, I went to NYU to help get the word out of my band in the city. I went to law school, because I thought, another three years, where I can act like a kid, and be in my band. Did everything to make it. All along the way, we had managers, producers, and all different people telling us what to do, teaching me what to do as a musician, "Sign here, do that," and so on. The change has come, where now, I'm the attorney, and with my clients, I'm giving them the advice that I used to get. "This is what this means. "This is what a copyright is. "This is what a trademark is." And it's been full-circle for me. I always thought I'd be a very smart drummer, but as my mother said, "Life is what happens when you're making other plans." That seems to be the story of my life.
