Chris Jasper is a former member of The Isley Brothers and Isley-Jasper-Isley, and is responsible for writing and producing the majority of The Isley Brothers music and Isley-Jasper-Isley music. He is also an Inductee in the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame.
Hey everybody, I'm Chris Jasper you might know me from the Isley Brothers, Isley-Jasper-Isley, I'd just like to talk to you a minute about a new project I have. It's called Share With Me. The title track is, of course, a love song. That's one of my strong points, is my ballads. I've written a lot of ballads over the years. That's a subject I'm very comfortable with. But Share With Me is a song, of course, about two people coming together and sharing all of their dreams and all the things they want in life together, and having a very close, spiritual connection with each other. And I think that's an important element, you know, to have in a love relationship is that type of intimacy. I write from that perspective a lot, now because of course I've been married a long time. My 34th anniversary is coming up February 14. It's kind of personal with me when I write songs now, love songs. This album Share With Me has, of course, the ballads on it. It has a little up tempo stuff on it too because that's part of who I am. I also have something different on this album. I have some cover songs on there. One song is a gospel hymn, How Great Thou Art. I did a version of that. Also I did a version of the Billy Preston song, You Are So Beautiful. And the arrangements are different, kinda put them in my style. But that's what kinda makes this album a little different is I did some cover songs and kinda redid it, kind of how I did Hello It's Me and Don't Let Me Be Lonely Tonight a long time ago with the Isley Brothers. Kinda put them in my kinda style. I really enjoy writing and composing and doing other things with music maybe somebody else wouldn't do. That's what this album has to offer. It has a lot of those kind of things in it. Like I said, I also have some funk on this album. I always wanna include that, too. Share With Me is, it is about intimacy. The other songs too, as well. I have some other ballads on here. Original ballads that are that way as well. I hope you can enjoy this album as much as I did creating it.
