FRISCO, TX, October 5, 2018 — Media personality and philanthropist Shefik (https://shefik.info) will serve as Master of Ceremonies for a charity event titled "Beauty with Compassion", which will benefit the non-profit organization Munhu Inc. (https://www.munhuinc.org). The organization provides educational support to children orphaned by AIDS in rural Zimbabwe, by paying for their tuition and providing school supplies. The organization also promotes healthy living in the villages where these children live, while supporting and promoting an entrepreneurial spirit among the villagers. It is the mandate of the organization to also assist children who are head of household and caregivers to AIDS patients within their household.

The core values of Munhu Inc. project belief in a world where every child should have an adequate education and live a healthy and dignified life. The organization believes that this allows children to fully express their gifts and talents, in order to effectively contribute to the world.

Presented by the skin care brand Yangu Beauty (https://www.yangubeauty.com), the event takes place at Stonebriar Country Club, 5050 Country Club Dr., Frisco, Texas 75034 (a part of the Dallas-Fort Worth metroplex), on Friday, October 5, 2018, from 7 p.m. to 10 p.m. CDT. Tickets can be purchased online via Eventbrite at https://www.eventbrite.com/e/beauty-with-compassion-a-munhu-inc-fundraiser-tickets-50338189881, priced at $50. Facials and makeovers for the event (with celebrity make-up artists) start at 6 p.m. CDT, for a donation of $30 to Munhu Inc. Supermodel and Yangu Beauty brand ambassador Carlotta Lennox will be on-hand to meet and greet attendees, as Yangu Beauty's VIP program is introduced. Mark Moore and Marvin Jay will also be on-hand as Production Assistants, as they aid in the coordination of the event's activities.

Yangu Beauty is an award-winning, luxurious, authentic, and reliable skin care brand for women of color. The company's products target challenges, such as sensitive skin, acne out breaks, dark spots, puffy eyes, and dark circles. Yangu Beauty has a full range of products.

"We are excited that Shefik has agreed to be Master of Ceremonies at the Munhu Inc. fundraiser that we are presenting under our 'Beauty with Compassion' program," says Sipho Gumbo, Founder at Munhu Inc. and Founder and President at Yangu Beauty. "We support ethnically oriented philanthropic organizations at Yangu Beauty, because we believe that people are the force that creates love, beauty, and the appreciation thereof in our world. We do most of our giving back through Munhu Inc., an organization that I founded in 2004, in response to the AIDS crisis that ravaged Zimbabwe and left many orphaned children stranded, with no money to attend school."

"We are so very thankful to the team at Yangu Beauty for presenting the fundraiser for Munhu Inc., as part of their 'Beauty with Compassion' program," adds author Martha Mutomba, Chair and Executive Director at Munhu Inc. "It is so heart-warming to see so many people stepping up to be a part of the event. We are grateful to media personality Shefik, who serves as Master of Ceremonies for the event. The funds raised will go a long way in fulfilling our mission at Munhu Inc. — to support the education of orphaned children in the rural areas of Zimbabwe. Through the kindness and generosity of so many who give their money, time, and energy, we have helped over 3,000 children to pursue their academic dreams and work toward brighter futures for themselves. We believe every child deserves that chance to receive a good education, no matter their circumstances."

The term "munhu" means a person — a human being — in the local Shona language that is spoken by most people in Zimbabwe (over 75%). In Ndebele (the other major local language spoken in Zimbabwe), "munhu" translates to "umuntu". As such, "munhu" and "umuntu" reflect the Bantu people's spirit of ubuntu that Nelson Mandela not only embodied, but taught to millions or people across the world. Mandela was a South African anti-apartheid revolutionary, political leader, and philanthropist, who served as President of South Africa from 1994 to 1999.

Zimbabwe, officially the Republic of Zimbabwe, is a landlocked country located in southern Africa, between the Zambezi and Limpopo Rivers, bordered by South Africa, Botswana, Zambia, and Mozambique. A country of roughly 16 million people, Zimbabwe has 16 official languages, with English, Shona, and Ndebele the most commonly used.

After independence from the United Kingdom was declared on November 11, 1965, the policies of racial inequality within Zimbabwe were reflected in the disease patterns of the black majority. The first five years after independence saw rapid gains in areas, such as immunization coverage, access to health care, and contraceptive prevalence rate. Zimbabwe was thus considered internationally to have an achieved a good record of health development.

However, Zimbabwe suffered occasional outbreaks of acute diseases (such as plague in 1994). The gains on the national health were eroded by structural adjustment in the 1990s, the impact of the HIV/AIDS pandemic, and the economic crisis since the year 2000. In 2006, Zimbabwe had one of the lowest life expectancies in the world, according to a United Nations figure — 44 for men and 43 for women, down from 60 in 1990, but recovered to 60 in 2015. The rapid drop was ascribed mainly to the HIV/AIDS pandemic. Infant mortality rose from 6% in the late 1990s to 12.3% by 2004. By 2016, HIV/AIDS prevalence had been reduced to 13.5%, compared to 40% in 1998.
