MarCom Awards is an international creative competition that recognizes outstanding achievement by marketing and communication professionals. Entries come from corporate marketing and communication departments, advertising agencies, public relations firms, design shops, production companies, and freelancers. The competition has grown to perhaps the largest of its kind in the world. A look at the winners shows a range in size, from individual communicators to media conglomerates and Fortune 500 companies. The competition is so well-respected in the industry that national public relations organizations, local ad clubs, and local business communicator chapters are entrants.
Media personality Shefik, a native of New York, has won a total of four awards in the 2017 competition for his nationally-syndicated terrestrial radio show, "Shefik presents Invocation". Two MarCom Gold Awards (under the categories "Video/Audio - Video/Film: Medical" and "Video/Audio - Audio/Radio: Radio Program") and two additional MarCom Honorable Mention Awards (under the category "Video/Audio - Audio/Radio: Radio Program") were presented. In the 2016 competition, Shefik won three awards. This now brings the grand total to seven MarCom Awards overall.
MarCom Awards is administered and judged by the Association of Marketing and Communication Professionals (AMCP). The international organization consists of several thousand creative professionals. AMCP oversees awards and recognition programs, provides judges, and sets standards for excellence.
As part of its mission, AMCP fosters and supports the efforts of creative professionals, who contribute their unique talents to public service and charitable organizations. Over the past few years, AMCP's Advisory Board has given out over $200,000 in grants to support philanthropic endeavors.
Judges are industry professionals, who look for companies and individuals whose talents exceed a high standard of excellence and whose work serves as a benchmark for the industry. Entries come from throughout the United States, Canada, and dozens of other countries.
In the past, about 15 percent of entries won the MarCom Platinum Award (the top award) and around 20 percent the MarCom Gold Award. Approximately 10 percent were Honorable Mention winners.

- "Songs to Invoke Miracles" (MarCom Gold Award): This particular episode, which is the 27th episode of the radio show, features multi-platinum producer Rickey "Slikk Muzik" Offord (Babyface, Ariana Grande, Chris Brown, Kirk Franklin, Jaime Foxx, Master P, Tank, and Ludacris); actor Charles Valentino (Scarecrow in "The Wiz" - 1st National Tour, 1976 and Broadway Revival, 1984); recording artist Bunni Ray of Blush; recording artist Sellah (who sang in a Super Bowl commercial for a major brand, as well as in the same commercial that has amassed over 17 million views at YouTube); USA National Miss Garden State 2017 Amanda Witkowski (who is also National American Miss New Jersey 2017); and Lachandra (recording artist and owner, Posh by Lachandra); along with messages from Chris Jasper (Member, The Isley Brothers (1973-1983) and Member, Isley Jasper Isley (1984-1987)); multi-platinum songwriter and recording artist Janice Dempsey; and Bonné Dunning Williams of the legendary Ladies of SKYY.
