The international competition dotCOMM Awards honors excellence in web creativity and digital communication. The competition is unique in that it reflects the role of creatives in the dynamic web that is transforming how they market and communicate products and services.
Media personality Shefik, a native of New York, has won a total of three awards in the 2017 competition for his nationally-syndicated terrestrial radio show, "Shefik presents Invocation". One dotCOMM Platinum Award and one dotCOMM Gold Award were presented to the radio show itself (under the category "Audio: Program"), and one dotCOMM Platinum Award was presented to the show's website at invocation.co (under the category "Website: Business to Consumer"). The dotCOMM Platinum Award is the highest honor that can be bestowed.
Categories for dotCOMM Awards are the elements of the web's evolving tools. Interactivity, content, design, social media, video, apps, blogs, and influencers are all important components of digital public relations, marketing, and advertising campaigns. Together, they generate branding, customer engagement, and ultimately sales.
Entries for dotCOMM Awards come from corporate communication departments, public relations firms, digital shops, advertising agencies, and freelancers. Entrants include designers, developers, content producers, digital artists, video professionals, account supervisors, creative directors, and corporate executives.
Administration for dotCOMM Awards is handled by the Association of Marketing and Communication Professionals (AMCP). The international organization oversees awards and recognition programs and honors outstanding achievement and service to the profession. As part of its mission, AMCP fosters and supports the efforts of creative professionals, who contribute their unique talents to public service and charitable organizations. Over the past few years, AMCP's Advisory Board has given out over $250,000 in grants to support philanthropic endeavors.
Judges are industry professionals, who look for companies and individuals whose talent exceeds a high standard of excellence and whose work serves as a benchmark for the industry. There were over 2,200 entries from throughout the United States, Canada, and 13 other countries in the dotCOMM Awards 2017 competition. About 13 percent of entries won the dotCOMM Platinum Award, and around 13 percent the dotCOMM Gold Award. Approximately 5 percent were Honorable Mention winners.
"I am extremely proud of the work that my team and I have accomplished," says Shefik. "The collective nature of 'Invocation' is rooted by a manifesto and life stance. The journey is its calling card."
For the dotCOMM Platinum Award presented to the show's website at invocation.co, Shefik is credited as Architect and Developer.
