The winners of the 23rd Annual Communicator Awards have officially been announced by the Academy of Interactive and Visual Arts (AIVA). With over 6,000 entries received from across the United States and around the world, the Communicator Awards is the largest and most competitive awards program honoring creative excellence for communications professionals.
Media personality Shefik, a native of New York, has won a total of two awards in the 2017 competition for his nationally-syndicated terrestrial radio show, "Shefik presents Invocation". One Communicator Award of Excellence was presented to the radio show itself (under the category "Productions/Programs/News - Program"), and an additional Communicator Award of Excellence was presented to the show's website at invocation.co (under the category "Websites - General - Entertainment"). The Communicator Award of Excellence is the highest honor that can be bestowed.
Communicator Awards are judged and overseen by the AIVA, a 600+ member and invitation-only organization of leading professionals from various disciplines of the visual arts, dedicated to embracing progress and the evolving nature of traditional and interactive media. Current AIVA membership represents a "Who's Who" of acclaimed media, advertising, and marketing firms, including AirType Studio, Condè Nast, Disney, Keller Crescent, Lockheed Martin, Monster.com, MTV, rabble+rouser, Time Inc., Tribal DDB, Yahoo!, and many others.
"We are both excited and amazed by the quality of work received for the 23rd Annual Communicator Awards. This year's class of entries is a true reflection of the progressive and innovative nature of marketing and communications," noted Linda Day, Executive Director of the Academy of Interactive and Visual Arts. "On behalf of the entire Academy, I want to applaud this year's Communicator Awards entrants and winners for their dedication to perfecting their craft, as they continue to push the envelope of creativity."
"It is exciting to win multiple Communicator Awards at the highest honor that can be bestowed," says Shefik. "The industry and peer support for 'Shefik presents Invocation' has been overwhelming, and I feel deeply blessed. Thank you to my production crew and the various performers who lent their talent and experience to my creative vision."
For the award presented to the show's website at invocation.co, Shefik is credited as Architect and Developer.
