NEW YORK — Media personality and technology maven Shefik (https://shefik.info) has been named an official judge for the 16th Annual Horizon Interactive Awards (https://www.horizoninteractiveawards.com), where he will serve alongside a panel of esteemed judges. Winners are chosen through a combination of judging criteria, consisting of UX/Design, Creativity Technical, Message, and Effectiveness.
The competition recognizes, promotes, and awards the best websites, videos, online advertising, print media, and mobile applications. Each year, Horizon Interactive Awards receives thousands of entries from all over the world, and a volunteer panel of industry professionals, from diverse multimedia, graphic design, advertising, and marketing backgrounds, review the entries to determine the work that is to be recognized.
Past winners include projects developed for HBO, American Red Cross, Walmart, Revlon, and Buffalo Wild Wings.
Shefik currently also serves as an official member of the Forbes Technology Council, a community for senior technology executives, such as CIOs and CTOs. Most recently, Shefik was a judge for the 10th Annual Shorty Awards.
A 2012 Forbes magazine article about the Shorty Awards commented, "The Shortys recognize that social media is about more than who can get the most followers...we are creating millions of pieces of new writing that will define our generation... These writings...are creating our history of record."
Throughout 2017, Shefik was very active in the community, as he endeavored to define and echo voices across multiple generations. He served as a judge for a local Miss America competition, aiding in the 2018 crowning of Miss Northern Highlands, Miss Northern Lakes, and Miss North Jersey. The winners will move on to compete for the state title of Miss New Jersey 2018.
Shefik also served as moderator at a panel discussion on "Equity & Diversity: Community Dialogue" (Washington, D.C.), and he was named Master of Ceremonies for various charitable events to benefit Autism New Jersey (Lakewood, NJ), and Eastern Shore Self-Advocacy Project (Chestertown, MD), as well as a key participant in industry leading events: Maarkah New York Fashion Week SS18 (New York, NY), Lehigh Valley Fashion Week (Bethlehem, PA), and the pageants for Miss Fashion Week Lehigh Valley and Miss Fashion Week Philadelphia (Allentown, PA).
Additionally, Shefik appeared as a guest speaker at various uplifting events, such as a holiday fundraiser for YWCA Yonkers (Yonkers, NY), the 7th Annual Broadway Sings for Pride (New York, NY), and Global Tech Meets Fashion Affair Fundraiser (Brooklyn, NY).
