On November 25, 2024, an informal briefing for stakeholders on the preparations for the Second World Summit for Social Development was held in Conference Room 1 at the headquarters of the United Nations in New York City. Sir Shefik Macauley (Special Envoy to the United Nations for the Sovereign Imperial and Royal House of Ghassan) attended the briefing in person as Stakeholder 25, where he was joined by representatives of other relevant non-governmental organizations, civil society organizations, academic institutions, and the private sector with accreditation to the United Nations. Sir Shefik observed conversations by such representatives, who expressed their social concerns to the co-facilitators of the upcoming summit.
The briefing was convened by H.E. Mr. Philippe Kridelka (Permanent Representative of Belgium to the United Nations) and H.E. Mr. Omar Hilale (Permanent Representative of the Kingdom of Morocco to the United Nations), in their capacity as co-facilitators of the intergovernmental preparatory process leading up to the Second World Summit for Social Development.
Following the briefing, Sir Shefik conversed and expressed greetings to both H.E. Kridelka and H.E. Hilale. Sir Shefik also conversed and expressed greetings to Delois Blakely, who was also referred to with the honorary title Queen Mother. A goodwill ambassador to Africa at the United Nations, Queen Mother claims to represent the 55 million displaced Africans of the Trans-Atlantic slave trade and calls for reparations for slavery. Queen Mother has been engaged and involved with the United Nations for 50 years as a humanitarian. As the Founder of the organization New Future Foundation, she provides an extensive training program for youth delegates to actively engage with the United Nations and their respective missions.
