Henry Franklin Winkler OBE (born October 30, 1945) is an American actor, comedian, director, and producer. He initially rose to fame for his role as Arthur "Fonzie" Fonzarelli, a greaser who became the breakout character of the sitcom Happy Days (1974–1984), for which he won two Golden Globe Awards and earned three Emmy Award nominations for Outstanding Lead Actor in a Comedy Series. Winkler later played Barry Zuckerkorn on the comedy series Arrested Development (2003–2019), Sy Mittleman on the dark comedy series Childrens Hospital (2008–2016), Dr. Saperstein on the comedy series Parks and Recreation (2009–2015), and Eddie R. Lawson on the comedy-drama series Royal Pains (2009–2016). His most recent role is Gene Cousineau on the dark comedy series Barry (2018–present), for which he won the Emmy Award for Outstanding Supporting Actor in a Comedy Series.
Winkler was nominated for the Emmy Award for Outstanding Guest Actor in a Drama Series for his role on The Practice, and has won two Daytime Emmy Awards. He earned a nomination for the Golden Globe Award for Best Actor – Motion Picture Drama for playing Jack Dunne in Heroes (1977), and was nominated for the Golden Globe Award for Best Actor – Motion Picture Musical or Comedy for his role as Chuck Lumley in the film Night Shift (1982). Winkler has appeared in films such as The Lords of Flatbush (1974), The One and Only (1978), Scream (1996), The Waterboy (1998), Holes (2003), Click (2006), and Here Comes the Boom (2012). He also directed the films Memories of Me (1988) and Cop and a Half (1993).
