Dr. Tetteh is a United States Navy Captain, Associate Professor of Surgery at the Uniformed Services University of the Health Sciences, and adjunct faculty at Howard University College of Medicine. He was selected a 2019 Emerging Leader in Health and Medicine Scholar by the National Academy of Medicine. Currently, he is a Thoracic Surgeon for MedStar Health and Walter Reed National Military Medical Center. His media appearances include The Wall Street Journal, Forbes, TEDx, C-SPAN, Fox News Media, NBC, and Savoy.
Did you know that Shefik and Dr. Hassan Tetteh both attended the State University of New York at Plattsburgh together during the early 1990s? Moreover, they are actually related. Dr. Tetteh is Shefik's uncle! Shefik began his academic journey with the intent of becoming a doctor himself. He later changed his mind, to instead pursue his interests in media and entertainment, of which his career continues to thrive in those industries today.
