NEW YORK — During August 10-14, 2020, over 5,000 people throughout the world took part in an incredible event online and made podcasting history, by achieving the world record-breaking title for "the largest attendance for a virtual podcasting conference in one week", as officiated by Guinness World Records (https://www.guinnessworldrecords.com/world-records/619872-largest-attendance-for-a-virtual-podcasting-conference-in-one-week). Listed as an achievement by Podfest Expo (USA), the world record for "the largest attendance for a virtual podcasting conference in one week" is now set at 5,003. Media personality and philanthropist Shefik (https://shefik.info) was on-hand to actively participate in this amazing achievement, where he was counted amongst the attendees. He was awarded an official certificate to commemorate his participation.
To be counted towards the Guinness World Record, attendees had to participate in Podfest Expo (https://podfestexpo.com) during August 10-14, 2020. Spearheaded by Founder and Chief Creative Officer Chris Krimitsos, this virtual conference was a global undertaking, intended to foster community, collaboration, and education to homes the world over. At the conference, attendees were interested in and passionate about sharing their voice and message with the world. They experienced world-class education, ideas, and inspiration — a strong, family-like community and plenty of amazing networking.
This is the second Guinness World Record that Shefik has participated (and achieved) within the past year. On May 1, 2020, the first was listed as an achievement by Crowdfunder (UK) at The Covid Arms, as the world record for "the most users to visit a virtual pub", set at 6,321. Shefik was also awarded an official certificate to commemorate his participation in this world record too.
During March 1-5, 2021, Podfest Expo will present its next virtual conference, with the intent to once again achieve a Guinness World Record — in hopes of beating their own record. As of this writing, there are over 5,450 registrations for this conference. Therefore, the world record-breaking achievement is well in sight for this week.
