NEW YORK — It was two years ago today that media personality Shefik launched his nationally syndicated radio show, "Shefik presents Invocation" (https://invocation.co). Since its inception, the terrestrial radio show has won a total of 34 industry awards for its accompanying website, video productions, as well as the radio show itself. The website serves as a conduit for discussion of the show, while highlighting related videos and auxiliary content. The show has amassed over half a million enlightened listeners monthly, and every month the audience increases.
Legendary recording artists and notable personalities, such as His Royal Highness Prince Gharios El Chemor of Ghassan Al-Nu'Man VIII; His Highness Dr. Prince Mario-Max Schaumburg-Lippe of Germany; Baroness Olga Papkovitch of Russia; 2-time Grammy Award nominee Freddie Jackson; 13-time Latin Grammy Award winner Alvaro Alencar; and 2-time Grammy Award winner James Mtume (Percussionist, Mtume) have all appeared on "Shefik presents Invocation".
"Shefik presents Invocation" is a mesmerizing and thought-provoking journey through musical discovery and appreciation that spans the decades. Each one-hour episode highlights one relatable focal point (chosen by Shefik), along with an accompanying playlist of songs (curated by Shefik), encompassing a unique thematic concept that invigorates the audience with creative impact.
A wide spectrum of actors, business executives, politicians, community leaders, and other special guests offer their own commentary on the weekly topic, as a supplement to Shefik's engaging mindset.
"I am excited to officially announce that the terrestrial radio show now has a dedicated audience of over half a million listeners every month," declares Shefik. "In fact, June 2018 was another record month, as over 600,000 listeners tuned into the broadcasts. As the third year of the journey starts now, I have a wide variety of exciting excursions planned."
Initially, Shefik secured a syndication deal with Syndication Networks Corporation to create, host, and produce a weekly show for terrestrial radio. From there, he launched "Shefik presents Invocation" on 20 radio stations and frequencies throughout the United States. That number has now risen to 21 radio stations and frequencies.
From the onset, all of Shefik's interview segments are shot in-person, and on video. The audio is extracted from each interview segment and broadcast in the radio show, whereas the videos are broadcast via various distribution outlets. For video distribution, Shefik has secured deals with Amazon Prime Video, FUBU Television Network, Audio Fuzz, Black Westchester, Yonkers Voice, and Focus Broadcasting Network. Videos are also posted via channels at YouTube, Facebook, Vimeo, Instagram, Dailymotion, TopBuzz, and Medium. In addition, via a distribution deal with It's Relevant TV, videos are broadcast at outlets in 20 states throughout the United States, inclusive of storefronts, medical offices, car dealerships, restaurants, salons, urgent care centers, pharmacies, malls, sports arenas, and more. Through It's Relevant TV, Shefik's video productions can be viewed at heavily trafficked locations, such as the 10,000 seat Webster Bank Arena (Bridgeport, CT), and the casino Mohegan Sun (Uncasville, CT).
"I intentionally created a platform which can be thoroughly segmented and enjoyed across varying mediums, without having the end user lost in translation," explains Shefik. "Although the optimal experience is achieved when a user listeners to a one-hour episode of the radio show in its entirety, each isolated segment — whether audio or video — emphasizes profound meaning."
"Shefik presents Invocation" broadcasted its premiere episode during the week of July 4, 2016, with "Songs to Invoke Revolution" as the designated topic. In the subsequent year, the episode "Songs to Invoke Revolution 2" was broadcast. During the current week of July 4, 2018, a supplementary episode on the topic — titled "Songs to Invoke Revolution 3" — has been designated.
This new episode features actress Satomi Hofmann ("The Phantom of the Opera" on Broadway); C R Capers (Founder, Hip Hop Film Festival and Founder, Harlem Film House); Sipho Gumbo (Founder and President, Yangu Beauty); and Shanna Marie Wallace (CEO, Mind Yard New York); as well as messages from recording artist Tawatha Agee (Lead Singer, Mtume); Sam Allen (Community Liaison Officer, City of Balch Springs, Texas); and recording artist and social activist Marco Pavé.
