Paul Laurence is an American multi-platinum songwriter, producer, and keyboardist. He had several number one R&B hits, including Freddie Jackson's "Rock Me Tonight (For Old Times Sake)", "Jam Tonight", "Tasty Love", "Hey Lover", and "Do Me Again".

My name is Paul Laurence, songwriter, producer, and recording artist. I've written numerous songs for Freddie Jackson, Lillo Thomas, Melba Moore, Meli'sa Morgan, Smokey Robinson, to name a few. I'd like to talk about a song that I did with Freddie Jackson on his debut album, Rock Me Tonight. The title song which is Rock Me Tonight, For Old Times Sake. It was an idea that I had in my head and Freddie came over to my house one day wanting to finally get with about writing a song for his album. So I sat down at the keyboard and say, I have this idea for a song, and I started playing the chords, and before I knew it, the song was written, literally within five minutes with maybe a few exceptions of choice lyrics here and there I would finish next couple of days, but overall that day the song was written, it was a song based on a relationship that I'd had prior, with a young woman that I was dating and I cheated on her and she just said, hey, I love you and all that stuff but I can't deal with this. If you ever get yourself together, then maybe we can talk. I did get myself together. So that was the theme of the song, and the lyric of the song, there's a line that says, now I got myself together, and I know just what I want, and right now, I know that it's you. So the song picks up from that headspace of getting myself together and going back to this woman and hopefully she receives it and I got a chance to tell her who it's for and she smiled but it was too late about the relationship 'cause she had moved on. But again, that song Rock Me Tonight, was number one on the Billboard charts for seven weeks. That album also sold triple platinum that was by Freddie Jackson.
