Songs to Invoke Peace

Episode 32
Songs to Invoke Peace

Experience the Journey

Make peace not war. This is not a cliché. This is not a request. Rather, as the momentary voice of reason, consider this a demand. So, I dare you to take this as a mantra, and wrap your thoughts around it.

No person is an island, neither in success or defeat, neither in tragedy or joy. We are inherently social animals, and peace should be a baseline of our existence, rather than a mere goal for which we strive. Therefore, we should not be passive. I urge you to strive for peace. Listen to the music in everything around you, in the cries of both triumph and sadness.

In calls for punishment and forgiveness, find the harmony which runs amid all these notes, and there you will find peace. Not until peace in your community and the environment that surrounds you, but also peace of mind.

There must be something of wisdom, when the disparate groups of humanity can all agree on something. The love of a mother, the joy of nature, the fulfillment from giving. Central to each of these is a uniting ideal: peace. It's been said before, but I don't think it can be said enough.

Peace is love.

And, you should give it. In most religions around the world, there is agreement in the principle evoked within ideals, such as karma and "do unto others, as you would have done unto you".

This agreement is transcendent. It colors outside the artificial boundaries we create within societies. It does not respect race, nationality, creed, or belief. It is perhaps as close to a universal social construct we have yet discovered. So, what is the product of this guiding principle?

It is peace.

The journey continues right here and everywhere.
