My name is Neddy Smith. Composer, producer and bassist. Musically, when I take a journey to go on a melodic ride, I try to learn and study from some of the masters from different countries how they breathe musically, how they walk, how they think and within space and time, there's a certain pause that allow one to breathe melodiously, rhythmically, and it doesn't matter what you're doin' within that space and time, there is something about meaning of your breathing. For example, if I sit here, talkin' to you, there's a natural sense of breathing, that allow me to talk to you a certain way. If I was runnin' I would be breathin' a totally different way, and if I'm excited I would be excited to talk to you with that sense of breathing. A singer can sing and hold a note. A swimmer can swim and hold a note or the breath under the water. So I can make sounds but each sounds like, do I make it long, or short? It depends on how I breathe. For example, when I teach vocals to the singers, I teach them first how to breathe, and feel the note that they're breathing. So, musically, they can bring a tone on the air they breathe not so much just singin' but how to breathe and make that note a valuable experience.
