AVA Digital Awards announced winners for the 2018 international awards competition. There were 2,500 entries from throughout the United States, Canada, and 16 other countries.
AVA Digital Awards recognizes outstanding achievement by creative professionals involved in the concept, direction, design, and production of media that is part of the evolution of digital communication. Work ranges from audio and video productions — to websites and social media sites that present interactive components, such as video, animation, blogs, and podcasts — to other forms of user-generated digital communication.
Media personality Shefik, a native of New York, has won three awards in the 2018 competition for his nationally syndicated terrestrial radio show, "Shefik presents Invocation" (http://invocation.co). One AVA Digital Platinum Award, one AVA Digital Gold Award, and one AVA Digital Honorable Mention Award were all presented under the category "Audio Production/Radio: Program". In the 2017 competition, Shefik won five awards. This now brings the grand total to eight AVA Digital Awards overall. The AVA Digital Platinum Award is the highest honor that can be achieved in the competition, of which Shefik has received two awards (one in 2018, and the other in 2017).
AVA Digital Awards is sponsored and judged by the Association of Marketing and Communication Professionals (AMCP). The international organization consists of several thousand production, marketing, communication, advertising, public relations, and freelance professionals. AMCP administers recognition programs, provides judges, and rewards outstanding achievement and service to the profession.
As part of its mission, AMCP fosters and supports the efforts of creative professionals, who contribute their unique talents to public service and charitable organizations. Over the past few years, AMCP's Advisory Board has given out over $250,000 in grants to support philanthropic endeavors.
Judges are industry professionals, who look for companies and individuals whose talents exceed a high standard of excellence, and whose work serves as a benchmark for the industry.

- "Songs to Invoke Death" (AVA Digital Platinum Award): This particular episode (about "Death"), which is the 29th episode of the radio show, features 2-time Grammy Award winner Laurence Juber (Lead Guitarist, Paul McCartney & Wings (1978 - 1981)); publicist Angelo Ellerbee (President and CEO, Double XXposure); attorney Robert Siano, Esq.; and artist and party promoter Michael Alig, who served almost 17 years in prison for manslaughter; as well as messages from Billy Sherwood of the legendary progressive rock band YES; and Grammy Award winner Gerald Alston (Lead Singer, The Manhattans).
