Shefik and Eloisa Diaz-Sanz to Host Documentary Screening for Rapacon
MOUNT VERNON, N.Y. — Rapacon (https://www.facebook.com/rapacondjcon) is a first of its kind hip-hop experience. Founded by Curtis Sherrod, the annual event has grown to become a staple in honoring the hip-hop culture, while offering artful performances, mindful panel discussions, and priceless networking opportunities. With particular emphasis on celebrating the role of DJs in the culture, the essence of hip-hop is explored via "unending" cyphers, through the companion event titled DJ-CON.
"The Rapacon featuring DJ-CON documentary is a great way to see where hip-hop culture comes from, and to see where it's going," says its founder, Curtis Sherrod.
On Saturday, February 3, 2018, Mount Vernon Film Festival will present an official documentary about Rapacon featuring DJ-CON, which highlights its many years of positive impact on the community. The documentary is being presented in observance of Black History Month, and in association with City Council Member André Wallace of Mount Vernon, New York.
"The Rapacon events have been a tremendous success, and I'm happy to say that we are currently working on bringing the third installment of the Rapacon featuring DJ-CON series to Mount Vernon," says City Council Member André Wallace.
"Preserving our legacy for the next generation is so important," adds Yasmin Hurston, President and CEO at SAY YAS Productions. "I'm honored to help tell the story of Mount Vernon's rich history in hip-hop."
SAY YAS Productions has a vital role in such legacy preservation, as the company serves as the production entity for the documentary. SAY YAS Productions is a multi-media company that creates messages and conversations, as well as views and opinions of the public, through radio, film, television, and public events.
